My Team Is: Furness Motor Neurone Disease 2
Why I'm raising Money: Very many thanks for sponsoring me on the 2024 K2B which will be my 29th Walk. Still hoping to get to No.30 next year! Once again I am raising funds for Furness Motor Neurone Disease. My Team Leader has updated me with some of the local projects which were completed to support the FMND community in 2023:
FMND was awarded £11,500 at the November 2023 K2B awards ceremony. Thank you so much for making this possible. With more and more people being diagnosed, the funds are in demand. Some requests this year have been:
Short respite breaks for carers.
Transport travel costs for a lady to be able to visit her husband every day in a care home garden.
Improvement grant for decking and a ramp to allow an electric wheelchair user access to the whole of his property, and enable him to join his family in the back garden.
Door adaptation to widen a door and lower the threshold, providing safe access outdoors and ensuring that the person will not be housebound.
A young person's grant to enable her to continue her hobbies, despite the great strain her parents are under, living with MND.

All donations are made to the Keswick to Barrow Walk Charity. A percentage of this donation will be used to fund the cost of the walk and support local charities in South Cumbria/North Lancashire. The remainder of the donation will be donated to the Walker's (Team) nominated charity(ies) as listed below.
