I am a regular on the K2B event every year, having done this challenge annually since 2004.
Most people recognise me as I usually wear fancy dress, or huge hats, as I run most of the route. I also run locally, being a member of the Black Combe Runners club, taking part in local races as well as marathons, and will be running the Windermere marathon 15 days after K2B as well.
At 2017s K2B I became the first person in the history of the event to attend an exercise class mid-walk. Clubbercise, which is a dance workout class using rave glowsticks, takes place at Dalton-in-Furness leisure centre at 3pm every Saturday, so if people were wondering why it took me 106 minutes to get from the Dalton checkpoint to the finish....ie the last three miles of the walk, now you know. The class is an hour long. I also managed to attend that class in 2019, but missed it two years ago.
I plan to repeat this at the 2020 walk. Took careful planning to ensure reaching the fire station checkpoint by 2:45 and thus make the class.
If you wish to make a donation, please feel free to do so here.
In Millom, people may also leave loose change in collection tubs at the checkouts of the Co-op shop throughout April and May, including after walk day.
