Both 2018 & 2019 were tough years for me, not only healthwise but mentally too. I fell out of love with exercise because I just didn’t have the energy I used to have, with all the medications that I was on, never mind the emotional stress. Now I’m coming out of the other end and trying to kick start myself back to what I used to be and this is the first step! I needed something to aim for as I still find my body gets fatigued very easily and this seems ideal to help keep me motivated.
C2B will be the furthest I have ever walked in one day (Coniston to Barrow is about 21 miles) so it will not be easy. I have also persuaded Ashton to do this with me! The most exercise he gets is for his thumbs on Xbox!
I am part of the St John’s Hospice team for many reasons. Ever since I was in the lower 6th form & went to visit the Day Hospice every Wednesday, I realised what a special place St John’s is and it has always meant so much to me. I have actually fulfilled a dream of mine by actually working for them, although I am not as crucial as a nurse is, our fundraising team has been so important in keeping the hospice free for everyone and hopefully will continue to do so for future generations. For the first time ever I am actually making a difference to real people in a small way, rather than making money for faceless corporations, as I spent too many years doing. Not forgetting that our family has seen many friends and family members cared for over the years and the care at St John’s in my opinion is second to none.
So please support me/us if you can. Not only will it be tough on our feet but also...will Ashton ever speak to me again! Hours and hours of me with no gaming anywhere to be seen! And how many toenails will I lose, never mind the blister I will surely get? Urgh!
Thank you so much. xx
