C2B Start (Vehicles)

  • OS Grid Ref: SD 302 973
  • Nearest postcode: LA21 8EW
  • Follow blue arrows when arriving, brown arrows when leaving.

Arrangements for arriving at the C2B start are the same as for the 2016 walk. Shepherds Bridge Lane will be completely closed to all traffic, from the A593 at its north end, to the B5285 at its south end. There will be strictly no parking at Coniston Sports & Social Centre. The walker drop-off point is at:

John Ruskin Secondary School,
Lake Road, Coniston, LA21 8EW.

If you are driving to Coniston, please approach the village via the A593 from the north or south, depending on where you are coming from. Turn off the A593 onto Lake Road. John Ruskin School is a short way down the road and on your right. Enter the car park via the second gate, and follow instructions from marshals.

Users of the car park do so at their own risk. The organisers will not accept responsibility for damage, accident or loss.

From there, C2B participants should walk to Coniston Sports & Social Centre, via Lake Road and Tilberthwaite Avenue. Marshals will guide walkers along the short route.

The Coniston Sports Club Committee will be selling teas, coffees, bacon buns, etc, to raise funds for the club. Please support them. Do NOT set up your own cooking and brewing facilities in the sports club grounds.

After dropping off walkers, support vehicles should leave the school and return to the A593, then turn left and proceed to the next support area at Lowick Bridge.
